EAA does this assisting people with their immediate requirements, encouraging self-help when possible, and offering moral support whenever needed.

Opportunity #1: Food Pantry Assistant

Provide food to your neighbors in need

  • Description: Bag groceries for distribution; distribute food on pantry days
  • Requirements: Must be over 18 and able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds
  • Perks: Free food after the community has been served! Receive credit for service learning hours.
  • Volunteer Days and Times: Thursdays, 8:30AM – 4PM
  • Neighborhoods Served: Humboldt Park, Ukrainian Village

Opportunity #2: Gardening Assistant

Contribute to EAA’s flourishing community garden

  • Description: Help out with various garden tasks, such as planting and weeding
  • Requirements: Open to all ages! Some knowledge of plants and veggies to grow in raised beds or weeding could help, but all are welcome.
  • Perks: Free plants when available! Receive credit for service learning hours.
  • Volunteer Days and Times: Daily, 10AM – 5PM

  • Description: Assist with various critical clerical tasks
  • Requirements: High school age and up; good penmanship; can follow directions; basic computer skills
  • Perks: Credit for service learning hours
  • Volunteer Days and Times: Daily, 9-5

  • Description: Tidy up debris in the neighborhood and clean up the Monarch Community Garden
